Course Description
In this course, you will discover how to leverage materials readily available to you to conduct impactful therapy sessions in all settings. You will learn creative techniques and strategies that utilize everyday objects to enhance the therapeutic process. Additionally, we will address the importance of feeling prepared and discuss strategies for adapting when faced with technological challenges. By the end of this course, you will have practical tools to engage in resourceful therapy sessions and the ability to pivot when unexpected situations arise. You will also explore how to address communication disorders such as articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, receptive and expressive language, cognitive aspects of communication, and social aspects of communication using just one item.
Course Design
This course is designed to be interactive and practical, incorporating theoretical knowledge with hands-on exercises. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and discussions, participants will gain the necessary skills to apply therapeutic resourcefulness to various communication disorders. The course encourages active participation and provides opportunities for participants to share their insights and experiences.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of this course, the participant will be able to:
Identify and select appropriate materials readily available in different settings for conducting therapy sessions targeting various communication disorders.
Apply creative techniques and strategies that utilize everyday objects to enhance the therapeutic process for communication disorders, including articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, receptive and expressive language, cognitive aspects of communication, and social aspects of communication.
List strategies to adapt and overcome technological challenges that may arise during therapy sessions, ensuring the continuity and effectiveness of the therapeutic process.
Describe the importance of feeling prepared and equipped with a therapeutic resource toolkit, enabling them to engage in resourceful therapy sessions using minimal materials and improvisation when necessary.
Pivot and adapt their therapy approaches when faced with unexpected situations, leveraging their resourcefulness and creativity to provide effective interventions and achieve therapy goals.

Techniques for Cognitive Aspects of Communication (10 minutes) a. Exploring how the chosen item can be employed to address cognitive aspects of communication b. Sharing exercises and tasks targeting attention, memory, sequencing, problem-solving, and executive functioning
Techniques for Social Aspects of Communication (10 minutes) a. Discussing the utilization of the chosen item to improve social skills and communication opportunities b. Sharing techniques to address challenging behavior and promote effective social interactions
Adapting and Modifying Techniques (5 minutes) a. Discussing the importance of adapting therapy techniques to meet individual client needs b. Sharing tips for modifying exercises for optimal effectiveness
Handling Technological Challenges (5 minutes) a. Discussing potential technological issues in therapy sessions and their impact on resourcefulness b. Providing strategies for troubleshooting and overcoming technological challenges

Completion Requirements
Satisfactory completion for all learners includes attendance and completion of the evaluation form and learning assessment within 24 hours of the program. Partial credit is not given at this time.

For cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the start of the class, a full refund will be issued.
If you cancel less than 24 hours prior to the class, you will receive a gift certificate to attend a future course.
