“The Meaning Behind the Letters”
This course provides instruction pertaining to cultural competency and specialized clinical training focusing on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression as well as patients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, queer, or questioning. This course is designed to empower and teach professionals about communication and inclusive language regarding the LGBTQ+ community. Moreover, this interactive presentation will discuss real-life situations/examples and how age, gender and sexuality, nationality, race, ethnicity, and religion play a major role in the LGBTQ+ community. This robust presentation will leave attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate their professional and personal lives. Furthermore, all participants will receive resources/handouts that can be utilized in the future (e.g., a guide to using personal pronouns).
