Course Description
This course provides instruction pertaining to cultural competency and specialized clinical training focusing on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression as well as patients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, pansexual, two-spirit (2S), androgynous, and asexual (LGBTQQIP2SAA).
This course is designed to empower and teach professionals about communication and inclusive language regarding the LGBTQ+ community. Moreover, this interactive presentation will discuss real-life situations/examples and how age, gender and sexuality, nationality, race, ethnicity, and religion play a significant role in the LGBTQ+ community. This robust presentation will give attendees the knowledge needed to navigate their professional and personal lives. Furthermore, all participants will receive resources/handouts that can be utilized in the future (e.g., a guide to using personal pronouns).

Self-study activities are materials developed for individuals or groups of learners who seek flexibility in the location and scheduling of a course. These self-paced activities offered for a pre-set number of ASHA CEUs may be in the form of online modules, videotapes, journals or podcasts, manuals or computer programs, or any combination of these media.
